SECTION 2

In this exercise you will practice using the AutoFill option button to enter dates in a work sheet.

1.

Start Excel 2003 by double clicking the Excel icon or by using the start menu

Start->Programs->Microsoft Office->Microsoft Office 2003.

2.

When the Excel 2003 screen opens, make cell A1 the active cell, and enter the following date 7/23/2005 .

Place your mouse pointer on the lower right corner, and it will turn into a thin cross +.

Hold your left mouse button and drag across the top row, Auto Filling the dates as you go.

3.

Notice the AutoFill option button at the lower right corner of the last cell (where you stop).

Move your pointer over the button and select the drop down list by clicking on it.

4.

When you see the drop down list, select the Fill Years option and click the radio button.

5.

You can now see that the year is incremented up to 2010. If you click the Fill Months radio button on the option list, the months will be incremented instead of the years.

6.

Exit Excel 2003 without saving the workbook.
