Excel’s AutoFormat feature allows you to choose a format from a preset collection of Formatting schemes. The format you choose can be applied to a worksheet or to a selection of cells. This feature can give your worksheets a more professional look, with very little time or effort.
Here we have a basic worksheet.
First, click on a cell in the data area of your worksheet, or elect a range of data cells.
To use AutoFormat, click on the format menu and choose the AutoFormat Option. Format->AutoFormat.
The AutoFormat dialogue box will appear. Now you can use the scroll bar to view the preset formatting schemes.
Clicking the Options button will display a group of check boxes under the heading Formats to apply.
You can alter the preset scheme you choose by clearing or checking these options.
Once you choose an appropriate scheme, click on it, and then just click the OK button to apply it to the selected range.
The selected range is formatted with the format scheme you choose.
If you select a single cell in the data block, and then use auto formatting, the entire block of cells will be formatted.
