SECTION 3
Lesson 3.4 Modifying Excel’s Toolbars

You can change the location of Excel’s toolbars, to suit your personal preference.

To move a toolbar, place your mouse pointer over the small column of dots at the end of the toolbar. When you see your mouse pointer turn into a directional pointer (crossed arrows), you can move the toolbar to any place on the Excel screen by holding the left mouse button down and dragging.

You can dock a tool bar, (attach it to the edge of the Excel screen), by dragging it to the place you want to keep it. You can dock toolbars to the top, bottom, or either side of the Excel screen.

If you click on the drop list at the end of a toolbar, you will see an option to Show buttons on one row. If you select this option, the toolbars will be compressed to fit side by side across one row of the Excel screen. Some buttons will be removed from the toolbars, so they can fit together on the same row.

To see all the buttons on toolbars in the same row, click on the drop list at the end of the tool bar. This will reveal the buttons that were removed to make room. There is also a Show buttons on two rows option to return the toolbars to separate rows.
