Outlook’s form cache allows you to manage your forms from one place. To open the Forms cache, follow these steps: - Click the Tools menu - Click Options - Click the Other tab - Click Advanced Options - Click Custom Forms.
The first text box allows you to set the maximum space that forms will take up on your hard drive. (By default, it’s set to 2.048 Mb.) You can also click the Password button to set a password, or click Web Services to set Web options for your forms. (We’re not going to cover Web options as they are almost never used.)
The main screen we’re concerned with here is the manage forms window, which you can see below.
On the left-hand side, we can click the Set button to choose Outlook Folders if we have saved our form there. On the right-hand side, we have a list of forms in our Personal Forms Library. (You can see the sample form that we created earlier listed there.) You can use the buttons in the middle of the two lists to delete a form or view its properties.
Other options include Install (if someone has provided you with a form file ending in .cfg) or Save As (if you want to save your form). You can also click the Clear Cache button to delete all custom forms. Be careful, though; if you choose this option there is no way to get your forms back! As well, if you have items that use this form, they will revert to the default form.
Once you’re done using the form manager, click Close. Then, click OK to the three windows behind it to return to the main Outlook screen.
