SECTION 1
Lesson 1.1: Introduction

The first step in learning Photoshop CS is getting it started. The following methods will allow you to open the Photoshop CS Program.

Double click the Photoshop CS icon on your desk top to start the program.

If you cannot find the Photoshop CS icon, choose Start->Programs-> Adobe Photoshop CS from the Windows Start menu.

The location of the Photoshop menu items will depend on how many programs are installed on your system, and on how you have your start menu configured.

You can also activate the run dialog by clicking the Start menu and clicking Run. Type Photoshop CS in the text area and click OK.

If you are opening Photoshop CS for the first time, you may see the Adobe activation window. Adobe Photoshop CS requires activation, as a means of preventing software piracy.

If you see the activation window, you can choose to activate the product now, or at a later date. To continue using Photoshop CS you should activate the software within thirty days. If the software has already been activated, you will not see this window.

You can click the Cancel button to remove the activation window without activating the product. The activation window will appear again the next time you open Photoshop CS.

When you close the activation window, the following Photoshop screen will appear.

When you see this screen, it means you have successfully opened Photoshop CS.
