SECTION 2
Lesson 2.3: More on Layers

There is still a lot more to be said on the subject of layers in Photoshop. For example, to help protect your layer information, Photoshop allows you to apply different kinds of locks to your layers. If you would like to move more than one layer at a time around your image window, Photoshop allows you to link layers in such a way that the layers will retain their individual information, but can be moved in unison. You can also merge two or more layers into one layer, allowing you to create effects or manipulate all of the combined layer information at once. If you want to reduce the total size of your image file, you can choose to flatten your layers to combine the information in your visible layers.

In this lesson you will learn about all of the concepts mentioned above: locking, linking, merging, and flattening layers.
