Lesson 2.1: Creating And Working With Macros

   

 

 

The first step to creating a macro is to record a task; you must create the macro before performing the task you plan to record. Let us begin by recording the insertion of a logo/graphic.

 

1.

Start with your blank slide; in the upper toolbar you will click on Tools and scroll down to Macros. At this step you will see five options under this heading, the only ones we will concern ourselves with right now, is “Macros” and “Record new macro”.

Click on record new macro.

Type: Graphics, tab, presentation1, tab, Alice.

Click OK This brings you back to your presentation; you will notice that at the top of your page you will see a tiny box, with a blue square , this blue square is your stop button. Do not hit the stop button just yet.

You will now record the ‘Graphics’ macro. In the upper toolbar click on Insert, then Picture; choose which file the picture is located in, once you have found the picture click on insert.

Hold and drag the logo/graphic to where you want it on the slide, and perform the necessary customizing tasks.

 

 

7.

Stop Recording your macro by hitting the stop button  on the ‘macro box’. If the macro record button does not stay active on your presentation, you are still recording.

 

To stop recoding:

 

Select tools, then Macros,

 

Select the “stop recording” option.

 

You have now successfully recorded your first macro.

Next we will run/play the macro you have just created.

 

Open a new slide

Click on tools located at the top of your tool bar.

Scroll down to Macro and select macros.

Once you have entered the macro name or selected one of the names below, select run, which is on the right hand side of the dialog box.

From the Main menu, Select Tools.

 

 

13.

Scroll to Macros, Select Visual Basic Editor.

 

 

14.

Edit commands by highlighting and deleting lines.

Close window when finished.

In this next section we are going to copy the ‘Graphics’ macro to a separate presentation. You must begin by opening both presentations; the one containing the macro and the one you wish to copy the macro to. In the presentation containing the macro go to tools, scroll down to macros, and click on Visual Basic Editor.

Click on the + sign, this will show you the module1 icon, then drag the module1 to the presentation below it.

You can now go into Presentation2 and play the macro you just copied.

Although you can keep every macro you create it is still beneficial to know how to delete one, especially one you forgot to name. Click on tools, scroll down to macro, and select macros.

In the macro name box type in or select the macro you want deleted, we will be deleting “Macro1.”

Click on delete, located on the right hand side of your dialog box. Be sure to select yes when your assistant asks you if you are sure you want to delete.

To set Macro Security: Go to Tools, Select Options.

Select Security tab.

 

 

24.

Select Macro Security.

 

 

25.

Select your Security level.

 

 

 

26.

Click OK.

 

 

27.

Select Digital Signature.

 

 

28.

Add your Certified digital signature.

 

 

29.

Click OK.
