SECTION 2
Lesson 2.3: Wireless Networking

For small home or office wireless networks there are two optional wireless networking modes available.

Ad-Hoc

This mode allows wireless devices to communicate with each other in peer-to-peer mode. In this mode wireless devices connect to each other and do not connect to a central access point (wireless router). A wireless router or access point is not needed in this mode.

Infrastructure

This mode allows wireless devices to communicate with a central node (wireless router) that provides network management (firewall, Internet sharing, and rules/policies) to all wired and wireless clients.
