SECTION 4
Lesson 4.1: Windows Media Player

The Windows Media Player area consists of four areas.

The Taskbar area at the top of Windows Media Player features your usual minimize, maximize and close buttons, but also includes the Quick Access Panel button to bring up the short-cut Menu Bar options. Notice that you also have the option to show the Menu Bar.

The Taskbar section also contains the following tabs:

Now Playing

Allows you to view video, view visualizations, and listen to music. You will also see relative content for what is playing.

Library

Allows you to organize digital media files on your computer and/or link to content on the Internet. You can also create and save play lists of your audio and video content.

Rip

Play a CD or rip (burn) specific tracks from a CD to the library on your computer.

Burn

Allows you to burn your own CDS from tracks you have stored.

Sync

Allows you to synchronize your music, videos, and recorded TV shows to a portable device.

Guide

Allows you to find digital media on the Internet.

The Playback controls are displayed at the bottom of Windows Media Player. These controls allow you to adjust the volume and perform other basic tasks such as playing, pausing, stopping, rewinding, and fast-forwarding audio and video files.

By using the Toggle Full-Screen button (labelled Skin Mode in newer versions) in the bottom right corner of Windows Media Player, a smaller mini-version of Windows Media Player will appear.

Basic functions are still available like Play, Pause, Stop, and visualization. Keep in mind that a right-click menu is also available for more options. To return to full-screen mode, select the Full-screen on/off button.
