SECTION 4
Lesson 4.2: Windows Movie Maker

Windows Movie Maker consists of several areas: Menu bar, Toolbar, Panes, and Storyboard/Timeline area. Let’s discuss these sections in more detail.

Menu bar area

Contains the File, Edit, View, Tools, Clip, Play, and Help menus.

Toolbar area

Contains your movie maker tools, an alternative to selecting commands from the menu bar. By default the toolbar consists the icons (from left to right) New, Open, Save, Undo, Re-do, toggle Tasks pane, toggle Collections pane, Collections pull-down menu, and View.

Pane areas

These are separate workable areas of Movie Maker. On the far left is the Movie Tasks pane (which can be toggled on or off), the Collections pane (which can be toggled on or off), and the Monitor pane (for previewing your clips or projects).

Storyboard/Timeline

The storyboard is the default view in Windows Movie Maker. The storyboard view allows you to view and manage the sequence of the clips in your project and easily rearrange them through dragging the clips. The timeline display will display your tracks and what type of files you have added to your movie. Through this window you can also add such features like Audio/Music, Title Overlay, and other features.
