Pictures on your computer can come from many sources, such as a camera, scanner, memory card, or Internet download. Windows XP has created a My Pictures folder for your convenience to store all your pictures in. You will notice this icon in your Start Menu. It is a good idea to store your pictures in the My Pictures folder for many reasons. The My Pictures folder is available as a button or shortcut for many sub-windows, such as the Save As dialog. The My Pictures folder also allows you to organize your pictures with ease through various features. This folder also acts as a default storage location for many programs and wizards.
