System Requirements

In order to fax from Word, you must first have your computer set up for faxing. There are several ways to do this; here’s a list of the most common scenarios:

Internet Faxing	This method sets up faxing like an e-mail account, allowing you to receive and send faxes with your e-mail program.
Windows Fax	Windows XP does include fax software, although it is not included by default. This type of faxing requires that your computer have a fax modem.
Third party programs	There are many programs that allow you to fax from your computer. Some require fax modems while some fax through the Internet, and some even support both.
