SECTION 3
Lesson 3.3: Inserting Diagrams and Charts

If we go back to the Diagram Gallery (accessed by clicking the Insert Diagram button  on the drawing toolbar, or by clicking the Insert menu and clicking Diagram), you’ll see that our third type of diagram is a radial diagram.

A radial diagram shows how many different items are related to a core theme. This sort of diagram is often used for brainstorming.

Here’s what the radial diagram looks like after we’ve chosen it and clicked OK in the Diagram Gallery:

Like other diagram types, you can type in the indicated areas, delete shapes, or resize your chart.

The Radial Diagram toolbar is also very similar to the Cycle Diagram toolbar. The Insert Shape button will insert another element to your diagram, like this:

You can insert many shapes to make your radial diagram very large:

The next two buttons () allow you to move selected text back or forward one shape. The third button () moves selected text to the shape on the opposite side of the diagram.

The next four options are the same as they were for the cycle chart toolbar. You can use the layout menu to change the size of your diagram; use the Change To menu to change the type of your diagram, use the  icon to change the style of your radial diagram, and use the text wrapping button () to set text wrapping options.
