Lesson 3.4: Customizing Graphics

   

 

 

1.

Open Microsoft Office Word 2003. (If Word is already open, create a blank document.)

 

 

2.

Click the Insert menu, choose Picture, and click New Drawing.

Click the Insert menu, choose Picture, and click AutoShapes.

 

 

 

4.

Click the Basic Shapes button on the AutoShapes toolbar and click Rectangle.

Click in the drawing canvas and draw a rectangle like the one below.

 

 

 

5.

Click the Line icon on the Drawing toolbar. Draw two lines on top of the rectangle so they form a triangle.

 

 

 

6.

Draw three more rectangles or squares inside the first rectangle to make a door and windows.

Draw a circle in the largest of the three rectangles for a doorknob.

 

 

 

7.

Click to select the first rectangle we drew.

Click the Fill Colour button () on the drawing toolbar.

Pick any colour you want.

 

 

 

8.

Click the smaller rectangle (the door) and fill it brown.

 

 

 

9.

Click to select the large rectangle again.

Click the Shadow button () on the drawing toolbar and click any shadow style you like.

 

 

 

10.

Click the Insert menu and click Text Box.

Draw your text box below the drawing canvas.

 

 

 

11.

Change your font to Informal Roman, 15, Bold.

Center your text.

Type This is my house.

 

 

 

12.

Select the text box and click the down arrow next to the Fill button on the drawing toolbar.

Click Fill Effects.

 

 

 

13.

Click the Pattern tab.

Pick a pattern that you like and click OK.

 

 

 

14.

Save your document if you would like.
