Lesson 2.3: Using Advanced Web Tools

You can also insert scrolling text (a marquee) into your Web page.

To create scrolling text, first click the Scrolling Text icon () on the Web Tools toolbar. Then, in the dialog box that appears, type the text that you want to appear. You can also use these options to control how your text appears:

Behaviour

Scroll

Text will move from one side of the screen to the other, eventually scrolling off the screen.

Slide

Text will slide from one side of the screen to the other, stopping at the far end.

Alternate

Text will appear on one side of the window, slide to the opposite side, move back to its starting point, and then stop.

Direction

N/A

Not available when using Alternate.

Background

Palette

Choose the colour that will appear behind the scrolling text.

Loop

N/A

Use the drop-down Choose how many times the scrolling text will loop around. You can pick a number between 1 to 5 or choose Infinite.

Speed

N/A

Use the slider to control how fast your text moves.

As you set various options, the image in the Preview box will change. Once you’re satisfied with the results, click OK to apply the scrolling text. Once it’s in your Web page, you can enter design mode and modify the font of the text just as you would regular text.

You can also resize the scrolling text by putting your mouse on either side of it and dragging.
