SECTION 4
Lesson 4.1: Modifying Word Options

We’ve only got two tabs left. The first lets you make your Word settings more compatible with older versions and other applications.

The first option in this dialog box is Font Substitution. Clicking this button will let you know what fonts have been substituted.

To set compatibility options, just pick the program from the drop-down menu to have options in the large white pane automatically checked or unchecked for you. (Of course, you can also check or uncheck options in the large white pane manually.) If you always use the same set of options, you may want to click the Default button to make these your default compatibility settings.

The last tab is the File Locations tab.

This tab tells you where key files are stored by default. You can click on each file listing to see a description of it in the bottom part of the window. You can also select a listing and click Modify to change its location.
