Lesson 1.2: Advanced Saving Options

   

 

 

1.

Open Microsoft Office Word 2003. (If you already have Word open, create a blank document.)

 

 

2.

In the new document, set your font to Comic Sans MS 12 using the drop-down menus on the toolbar.

 

 

3.

Type this text:

My Wish List

For Christmas, I want a new car, a cat, and a snow shovel.

 

 

4.

Click the File menu and click Save As.

Click the Desktop icon on the left hand side.

Double-click the Christmas 2005 folder. (If you do not have this folder, click the New Folder icon on the toolbar, type Christmas 2005 for the name, and click OK.)

 

 

5.

For your file name, type My Wish List.

For the file type, click the drop-down arrow and choose Plain Text (.txt).

Click Save.

 

 

6.

In your document, click the Tools menu and click Options.

Click the Security Tab.

In the Password to Open field, type santa.

Click OK.

Retype your password when prompted.

 

 

7.

Close Microsoft Office Word 2003. Save your changes if prompted.

 

 

8.

Open Microsoft Office Word 2003. Click the File menu, click Open, and navigate to Desktop/Christmas 2005/My Wish List.txt.

 

Select the file and click Open.

 

 

9.

Enter your password when prompted.

 

 

10.

Click the File menu and click Properties.

Click the Summary tab and fill out the author and company fields with your details.

 

 

11.

Click the Custom tab.

For the Name field, type Completed.

For the type, choose Yes or No.

For the Value, choose No.

Click Add.

 

 

12.

Click OK.

 

 

13.

Click the Tools menu and click Options.

Click the Save tab.

Ensure “Save AutoRecover info” is checked.

Enter 5 for the number of minutes.

Click Apply and click OK.

 

 

14.

Close Microsoft Office Word 2003.
